Many of us consider Thanksgiving to be the quintessentially American holiday. It marks the beginning of our “holiday season,” a period that lasts into winter holidays and through New Year’s Day. I love this season!
Especially it’s so appropriate as we celebrate our Veterans on November 11 for the sacrifice they’ve made to keep us protected, I feel being thankful and expressing my gratitude is such an important part of being happy in life. Finding even a small way to thank others for their generosity, friendships, support or even reminding ourselves just how much we have to be thankful for can be rewarding year-round.
I hope as you get busy, preparing for your holiday festivities and gatherings, you can find some time to reflect and be thankful for all the blessings we have around us. It can be so easy to take things for granted, let’s make sure our loved ones know how much we appreciate them this season!

Preparations are in the works, for the Prestigious FOCUS Concert Series “Honors Performance”
Dancers get ready to take a much-deserved Bow!
Season 2019-2020 FOCUS Concert Series Honors Performance will be held at the Irvine Barclay theatre June 15 through June 20, 2020, and presents all FOCUS dancers who completed their season of training! You will witness all the tenacity and hard work these performers put in through the season to earn the honor and prestige of participating in this outstanding Concert Series. Along with the sheer entertainment of our students’ performance, they will showcase their growing confidence, strong and poised athleticism, perseverance, unique individuality and appreciation for teamwork FOCUS instill in them.
It takes quite the courage to walk out and just stand in front of an audience. It takes even more courage and confidence to do that and perform! Our students at FOCUS do just that, all the while expressing appropriate emotions, executing intricate moves, remembering all the choreography, counting steps, stretching ever so much for the effect, and making it look effortless and having fun doing it.
Please join us and celebrate their accomplishments! The performers will be praised and honored and receive a Certificate of Participation for their hard work throughout the season.
We look forward to having you join us as they take their bow.

A popular instructor, Dante Lara has been teaching Tap for over five years at FOCUS. His passion for tap dancing shines through in his classes here at FOCUS. Dante instructs the art of tap to all ages and levels.
Dante is based in both NY and L.A. and has been seen in performing in nightclubs, major music festivals, jazz clubs, restaurants, corporate events, hotels, videos, and on TV. A graduate of Chapman University with a BA in Theatre Arts, Dante earned his SAG card at age seven and has been performing professionally ever since.
“My mission is to spread Tap Dancing to new audiences and to inspire everyone – especially the next generation of dancers – to sign up for classes, and explore this wonderful, musical dance form.”
Dante will keep your toes tapping….
With a positive attitude, we experience pleasant and happy feelings. This brings brightness to the eyes, more energy, and happiness. Our whole being broadcasts goodwill, happiness, and success. Even our health is affected in a beneficial way. We walk tall, our voice is more powerful, and our body language shows the way we feel.
Positive thinking is contagious! We affect and are affected by the people we meet, in one way or another. This happens instinctively and on a subconscious level, through words, thoughts and feelings, and through body language.
Is it any wonder that we want to be around positive people, and prefer to avoid negative ones? Stay positive and spread good vibes, it’s good for the soul…
We can’t wait for you to come drop-in, and see what all the excitement is about!
This class is filled with all the moves and techniques of being a cheerleader or member of the dance team! A perfect way to get ready for school cheer try-outs, dance team, or take it just for fun. Come get your cardio workout, build arm and upper body strength with pom-poms and learn the Cheer/Jazz styled choreography all the cheerleaders and dance team members are performing at all those special schools and sports events.
Remember to drink your water! Whether it’s hot out, just done with your dance rehearsal or it’s fall, your body depends on water to survive. Every cell, tissue, and organ in your body needs water to work properly. Your body uses water to maintain its temperature, remove waste, and lubricate your joints. Water is needed for overall good health.
You should drink water every day because water is best for staying hydrated. Most people have been told they should drink 6 to 8, 8-ounce glasses of water each day. That is a reasonable goal. However, different people need different amounts of water to stay hydrated. Most healthy people can stay well hydrated by drinking water and other fluids whenever they feel thirsty. As a dancer and athlete, you may need more water.
Remember to keep that water bottle full and close!
What better way to get the day started, than to stretch those arms above your head, and stretch your legs, point those toes and let out a big yawn, and those feel-good sounds! Next, flex your feet, point your feet, then rotate your feet in a circle to wake up those ankles! Don’t forget to twist your lower body with your right leg bent over the left leg (while lying flat on your back), hold it for 2 counts of 8, and repeat on the other side, all before getting out of your soft comfy bed! Now you’re ready to go and start your day!
