Anessa Davies – Instructor
⦁ BFA Candidate in Dance, Cal State Long Beach

Anessa, a native Californian, has been dancing for over seventeen years. She participated in competitive dance for eleven years where she represented FOCUS competing teams from 2018-2021. While on the competing team, Anessa had the honor of being chosen to perform in the opening number for the 2021 National Showbiz Competition.

Anessa has trained in many styles such as hip hop, jazz, ballet, musical theatre, tap, contemporary, and pointe. She was nominated for OC Artist of the Year 2020. Anessa graduated from Northwood High School in 2021 where she was the captain of the dance team.

Anessa is currently attending Cal State Long Beach to earn a BFA in dance where she has been training with Andrew Vaca, Steve Zee, Rebecca Lemme, Danzel Thompson-Stout, and Keith Johnson. She been featured in three Cal State Long Beach dance shows: Contemporary Dance Festival in 2022, MFA Thesis Festival in 2023, and Variance in 2023.

Anessa was accepted into Staib Dance Contemporary Intensive in the summer of 2023 that took place in Italy and had the opportunity of learning from George Staib, Elita Cannata, Oliver Robertson, James Wilton, Anna Bracewell Crowder, and Amelia Reiser.

Before becoming a FOCUS faculty member, Anessa started as a substitute teacher in 2019 upon completion of FOCUS Dance Center’s teacher training program. She’s had the pleasure of training under FOCUS staff such as Monie Adamson, Shannon Willard, Maria Paula Medellin, and many more.

Anessa dedicates her spare time to photography and video editing.
